Why Sainz Hasn’t Decided on His Future: Focused on Watching the Euros

Carlos Sainz is making everyone wait in the Formula 1 driver market.

Before the Hungarian Grand Prix, he joked that watching the Euros caused his latest delay.

Sainz’s dream of driving for Ferrari ended when Lewis Hamilton was announced to join them in 2025. This early news shook up the driver market. Audi got interested quickly, followed by Williams and Alpine. Even Mercedes showed some interest now and then.

Why is Sainz Taking So Long?

During late June and early July, there were three races back-to-back. Sainz mentioned at Silverstone how stressful it was focusing on these short-term performances. Other drivers like Zhou Guanyu felt frustrated too, calling Sainz a ‘cork in the bottle’.

After a break weekend, fans hoped for updates but got none. “I’ve been busy watching the Euros,” Sainz joked when asked about his decision in Hungary.

Sainz knows he’s causing delays but doesn’t think it matters much. “I’m aware of it, but I’m just changing the timing, not anyone’s outcome,” he said. He added that this situation taught him to be more selfish and focus on his own decisions without rushing.

Before the Hungarian Grand Prix, he teased Norris about Spain beating England in the Euros final. Norris and George Russell watched the final in Germany while Sainz stayed away from the stadium .

Fans might think it’s taking forever for him to decide!
