Christian Horner is facing a tough year with Red Bull. First, he was caught up in a scandal about bad behavior, then there were problems within the team involving Helmut Marko. Now, McLaren has overtaken them in the constructors’ championship, and Lando Norris is closing in on Max Verstappen for the driver’s title. Despite all this chaos, Guenther Steiner believes firing Horner isn’t the answer.
Steiner shared his thoughts, saying that when things go wrong, leaders often take the blame. Right now, Horner is being blamed at Red Bull. He observed that it’s common to point fingers when success slips away.
“As soon as the team is not doing good, it’s immediately pointing fingers,” Steiner said. “I think Christian should have the chance. I don’t own the team, so the shareholders will know what they are doing, I don’t know. Obviously there is turmoil inside.” This makes fans wonder if Horner’s time might be running out if things don’t improve soon.
Steiner backs Horner
Steiner doesn’t think Horner suddenly became a bad leader after their strong 2023 season. “I don’t know which changes, but I would not suggest that,” he stated. “Christian, as much as we can critique him, but the last years, he hasn’t done a bad job.” According to Steiner, Red Bull is just having a rough patch; they’re still among the fastest teams.
“But then again,” Steiner added thoughtfully, “if you don’t know all the ins and outs, it’s difficult to make a decision from outside.”
What do you think? Should Red Bull stick with Horner or make big changes?
