Villeneuve Supports Verstappen Despite Red Bull Challenges: ‘Max Will Be Fine’

Jacques Villeneuve is never shy about sharing his thoughts. Recently, he’s been vocal about Daniel Ricciardo and now has turned his attention to Red Bull Racing. He believes they aren’t supporting Max Verstappen enough in his quest for a fourth world title.

Red Bull has faced a tough season with the RB20 encountering multiple issues. The team, once expected to dominate 2023, struggled to pinpoint their problems and lost their lead in the constructors’ standings to McLaren after the Azerbaijan GP.

Villeneuve Urges Red Bull to Solve Verstappen’s Challenges

According to Red Bull, they’ve identified the root of their troubles. The Circuit of the Americas will be their chance to prove if they can resolve them. “They know at the team by their own admission what the problem is, so then it is important to start working on it,” Villeneuve mentioned during a chat with Formule 1.

He added confidently, “You bet they will. And that they will continue to do so,” recalling his own championship win with Williams back in 1997.

The upcoming US Grand Prix in Austin is crucial. Updates are needed as Verstappen can’t afford Lando Norris finishing ahead every weekend. Fans might think it’s time for Red Bull to step up and support their star driver more effectively. “But with Max it will be fine,” Villeneuve concluded optimistically. Currently, Verstappen holds a 52-point lead over Norris in the drivers’ standings.

What do you think? Can Red Bull turn things around for Verstappen?
