Max Verstappen just joined an elite club in F1 racing, matching Sebastian Vettel’s impressive run of four straight world championships with Red Bull. That’s pretty amazing company to be in.
The 26-year-old Dutch star sealed the deal in Las Vegas, putting himself alongside legends like Vettel and Alain Prost in the record books. Only three drivers have ever won more titles – Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher, and Lewis Hamilton.
Red Bull’s team advisor Helmut Marko has his sights set even higher.
“We want to win the fifth title with Max,” Marko told Kleine Zeitung in a recent interview. But he knows it won’t be easy. “Getting that fifth championship seems particularly difficult.”
After the way things played out in 2024, Red Bull isn’t taking anything for granted. The competition’s getting tougher, and staying on top is never guaranteed in F1.
Marko’s hoping the team can keep up their trademark efficiency and make it look easy – something they’ve gotten pretty good at over the years.
There’s been some big changes in the Red Bull family too. With Sergio Perez moving on, they’ve promoted Liam Lawson to the main team for 2025. That opened up some interesting possibilities for their sister team, now called Racing Bulls.
They’re going with an exciting young lineup – Yuki Tsunoda‘s staying on, and he’ll be joined by Formula 2 standout Isack Hadjar. Marko thinks these two could make things really interesting next season.
It’s a new chapter for both Red Bull teams, and everyone’s watching to see if Verstappen can keep his incredible run going.
