There has been a lot of buzz lately about Max Verstappen potentially jumping ship to Aston Martin. It’s just a rumor for now, but the plot thickened when design genius Adrian Newey recently started working for the British team.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko isn’t surprised teams are after his star driver.
“Any top team chief who wants to compete for the world title must be interested in Max,” Marko told Austrian media outlet Oe24.
But he’s not getting ahead of himself.
“Now let’s win the fifth title first,” he added.
Newey officially began his new role at Aston Martin last week, with the team proudly sharing photos of him at their Silverstone factory on social media.
His wife Amanda had a humorous take on her husband’s return to work after his gardening leave period.
“I can’t wait to see you again, dear husband! Let’s catch up in about five years time,” she joked online.
The timing is interesting with the Formula One season kicking off next weekend at the Australian Grand Prix.
For now, Marko insists the focus remains squarely on helping Verstappen secure his fifth world championship rather than worrying about future team changes.
