Red Bull Racing had a great qualifying session at the Belgian Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez securing top spots.
Verstappen will start ten places lower due to a penalty, but he knows Sunday’s race conditions will be different from the wet Spa-Francorchamps on Saturday.
Verstappen on Expectations for Belgium GP
After qualifying, Verstappen shared his hopes for Sunday. “We aim to score good points and manage the tyres well,” he said.
But there’s a strategic twist: “We have fewer hard tyres than most teams. Hopefully, it won’t hurt us during the race,” he added. When asked if a one-stop strategy is best, Verstappen simply smiled and said, “Not always.”
Sergio Perez had a strong qualifying despite recent struggles. Yet, Verstappen isn’t sure if this means better balance overall. “The car was good in the rain; he did well in quali. The gap is still six-tenths though,” he noted.
Fans might wonder if Perez’s performance signals a turnaround for him.
Sunday’s race will reveal more about their strategies and performance under different conditions.
What do you think? Will Red Bull’s strategy pay off?
