After an incident between Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar during the Chinese Grand Prix qualifying session, both drivers were summoned to the FIA Stewards.
The drama unfolded at the Shanghai International Circuit when Verstappen had to swerve quickly to avoid hitting Hadjar, who was released from the Racing Bulls garage at the wrong moment.
TV cameras caught the whole thing. Verstappen was driving along the fast lane when the Racing Bulls team let Hadjar out – but the timing couldn’t have been worse.
The reigning world champion had to take evasive action to prevent what could have been a nasty collision with the rookie driver.
Both men will now have to explain their side of the story to race officials.
They’re not alone in facing the stewards’ scrutiny today.
Oliver Bearman from Haas has also been called in after allegedly getting in Lance Stroll‘s way during the qualifying session.
The stewards will now determine if any penalties need to be handed out before tomorrow’s race.
