Verstappen, Russell Discuss Post-Race Clash in F1 Incident

Max Verstappen isn’t ready to let bygones be bygones with George Russell, as the three-time world champion admits he still hasn’t gotten over their Qatar dust-up.

"At that time I just felt that way and I still feel that way," Verstappen said bluntly in a year-end interview with Viaplay.

What stings even more for the Dutch driver is that he and Russell actually used to get along pretty well before things went south in Qatar.

But there might be light at the end of the tunnel.

"We talked briefly after the race in Abu Dhabi and it will be fine next season," Verstappen revealed during a chat at ServusTV’s Hangar 7. "We are all ready for the Christmas break."

Daniel Ricciardo, who knows Verstappen better than most from their Red Bull days together, couldn’t help but crack a smile about the whole situation.

"It’s great television," the Aussie joked. But he was quick to warn others about taking on his former teammate.

"Don’t talk s*** about Max – he’s hitting his marks right now," Ricciardo said with his trademark grin. "I feel like it’s a tough battle to win."

The real test of whether these two have truly buried the hatchet won’t come until they’re back on track in 2024, when the pressure’s on and the racing gets tight.
