Verstappen Reveals Favorite Corner at Zandvoort Circuit

Max Verstappen has his eye on a special piece of Dutch racing history—but only if he gets to pick it himself.

The three-time world champion revealed he’d be honored to have a corner named after him at Circuit Zandvoort, the legendary track that hosts his home Grand Prix. But in typical Verstappen fashion, he’s not leaving the decision to anyone else.

“Yes, if I can choose which corner,” the Dutchman replied when asked about the possibility during a conversation with his father Jos.

And he didn’t hesitate when asked which turn would bear his name.

“Scheivlak,” he said immediately. “You can’t be scared there, you can’t hold back.”

It’s a fitting choice for F1’s most aggressive driver. Scheivlak stands as one of Zandvoort’s most legendary sections—a blindingly fast right-hander perched atop a dune that has tested drivers’ courage since 1948.

Many racing experts consider it the ultimate test of bravery on the circuit. It’s where the real racing heroes separate themselves from the merely good.

While safety improvements came to Scheivlak in 2020, including a redesigned gravel trap, additional FIA fences, and tire stacks, designers carefully preserved the corner’s original character and challenge.

The track has become something of a second home for Verstappen, who has dominated the Dutch Grand Prix since its return to the F1 calendar, thrilling the orange-clad fans who pack the grandstands.

No official announcement has been made about naming a corner after the Dutch champion, but with his continuing success, it seems almost inevitable that “Verstappen Corner” will someday become reality at Zandvoort—and now we know exactly which one he wants.
