Max Verstappen isn’t sweating his shot at a fourth Formula 1 world title in Las Vegas tomorrow. In fact, the Red Bull superstar seems pretty relaxed about the whole thing.
He’s so laid back, he won’t even place a bet on himself in the gambling capital of the world.
Starting from fifth place isn’t perfect, but Verstappen’s keeping things in perspective. “We’re ahead of McLaren, and that’s what really matters for the championship,” he says. “We’ll just run our own race and see how it goes.”
The tire situation could be tricky though. So far, the longer runs on medium tires haven’t gone great.
Verstappen’s got a comfortable 62-point lead over Lando Norris with just three races left in the season. That’s a pretty big cushion.
When asked about racing with Norris right behind him on the grid, Verstappen just shrugged it off. “We’ll see tomorrow,” he said with his trademark cool. “I’m not worried about it.”
And betting on himself to clinch the title? The 27-year-old Dutch driver just laughed.
“I wouldn’t gamble – that’s just asking to lose your money,” he said. “Might as well throw it off your balcony. You’re gonna lose it anyway. I just don’t like gambling, so I wouldn’t do it.”
With his relaxed attitude and dominant season so far, it’s hard to bet against him – even if he won’t bet on himself.
