Verstappen-Piastri Clash Leaves McLaren’s Brown Stunned

McLaren just pulled off something incredible – their first constructors’ championship in 26 years. And boy, was it a nail-biter.

“This is definitely one of the best days of my life,” said team CEO Zak Brown, still shaking with excitement after the race. “Though two hours ago, it was looking like one of the worst.”

The drama started right from the first turn, when Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen collided, sending Piastri tumbling down from his second-place position.

For the next two hours, Brown and his team were on the edge of their seats.

“It was the most stressful day of my life,” Brown admitted. “But the team? They were absolutely perfect.”

Lando Norris drove brilliantly throughout the race. The pit crew nailed their stops. The strategy team made all the right calls.

“I think I’m still shaking from that first lap!” Brown told Viaplay, laughing. “I feel like I’ve aged about 30 years since then.”

It’s been a long road back to the top for McLaren. Their last constructors’ title came way back in 1998, when some of their current team members were still in grade school.

“Such an accomplishment, I’m just so proud,” Brown said. “Andrea has done an unbelievable job leading this team. Couldn’t be happier.”

The win marks a stunning turnaround for the historic racing team, which has fought its way back from some tough years to reclaim its place at the top of Formula 1.
