Sergio Perez shared that some Red Bull Racing engineers apologized after both he and Max Verstappen faced difficulties during the Italian Grand Prix. It was a tough weekend for Red Bull, with Verstappen finishing only in 6th place.
Earlier in the season, Perez and Verstappen had tried to alert Red Bull about issues with the RB20 car. Now, Perez believes these problems are finally being recognized, allowing the team to move forward.
Red Bull Engineers Say Sorry
Perez began the season strong, earning a contract extension early on. However, his performance later dropped, while Verstappen still managed to win races and stand on the podium. Critics were quick to point fingers at Perez’s form, but no major changes were made then.
Recently, even Verstappen has been facing challenges. When asked if his feedback was more appreciated now, Perez replied, “In a way, yes. To be fair, even some of the engineers after Monza came to me and did apologize in a way. Because now it’s a lot clearer of the issues that I was talking about,” he mentioned before the Singapore GP.
He also expressed gratitude for always having support from the engineers despite rumors suggesting otherwise. “And like people say, the problem was that I wasn’t focused enough on my racing or other things. But at the end of the day, I’m just happy that we found out the problem and that we can focus on that and improve it,” he added.
Fans might wonder if this newfound clarity will boost Red Bull’s performance in upcoming races.
