Verstappen Commends Formula One Legend with High Praise & Respect

Max Verstappen admired Fernando Alonso as a kid.

When Max was 17 and entered Formula 1, Alonso was already 33. Now, the three-time world champion, Max has high praise for the Spanish driver who won championships in 2005 and 2006.

Verstappen admires Alonso

“Fernando always stays true to himself, which I really admire. Even with all his success, he’s still a nice, normal guy. He was also the first Spaniard to win in Formula 1 and become world champion. I respect him a lot,” Max shared during an interview with DAZN.

As a young karting trainee, Max followed Alonso closely. “I remember watching him on TV while training in karting; he was someone worth tuning in for,” he said. At 42 years old, Alonso is still racing in Formula 1 with Aston Martin and even gave some advice to the Dutchman.

Fans might think it’s cool that their favorite drivers respect each other so much.

Alonso’s career longevity is impressive!
