Fred Vasseur has pointed out what sets Lewis Hamilton apart from other Formula 1 drivers as the seven-time champion prepares to join Ferrari. Turning 40 soon, Hamilton is gearing up for a fresh start next season.
The news of Hamilton’s move to Ferrari sent shockwaves through the F1 world. Announced even before the 2024 season, this change is becoming real with only six races left for him at Mercedes, where he’s been since 2013, collecting most of his victories.
Hamilton’s Unique Edge
Throughout his career, Hamilton has racked up more wins, poles, and podiums than anyone else. He’s chasing an eighth World Championship title. Vasseur aims to make Ferrari a winning team again and had plenty of driver options but saw something special in Hamilton.
“Lewis is a machine,” Vasseur said. “He’s like a company—organized and clear about his goals. He can separate every part of his work, which will be great for Ferrari.” Fans might think this makes him sound like a superhero!
Vasseur believes that having Hamilton on board won’t drastically alter things internally but will bring valuable experience and maturity. “His demands will push us to do better,” he noted, adding that their long-standing relationship could benefit both him and Ferrari.
As Hamilton looks to finish strong with Mercedes, starting with the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Toto Wolff wants to ensure he gets a memorable send-off.
