Tsunoda’s Growing Frustration: Unseen Factors at Play

Yuki Tsunoda feels left out and hasn’t talked to Christian Horner or Helmut Marko about what’s happening at Red Bull Racing. He hinted that other things, not just performance, are being looked at.

Earlier this season, Tsunoda signed a deal to race for VCARB in 2025. This happened after Sergio Perez secured his spot at Red Bull Racing, but now Perez’s future is uncertain due to his recent poor performance. So, there might be a chance for Tsunoda or his teammate Daniel Ricciardo to get promoted again. Liam Lawson is also waiting for an opportunity.

Has Yuki Tsunoda had talks with Marko about Red Bull?

When asked if he has spoken with Marko and Horner, Tsunoda simply said “No” before the Belgian Grand Prix.

“I don’t know about other drivers. They decide quickly. I’d love to be in that seat 100%. There are so many rumors like ‘oh, we need a good race,’ extra pressure. I never get any conversation or idea about that. We’ll see,” Tsunoda explained.

He then shared a chat he had with the Red Bull adviser in Austria: “He told me the next three races are crucial for my future. Austria wasn’t good. I thought he was talking about my F1 season rather than Red Bull, so I didn’t ask much about it—typical Helmut! After that, Silverstone and Hungary were clear.”

Fans might think it’s confusing why there’s no clear communication from the team.

“There were some races where I could have done better; like in Montreal, I lost points even though I was in the points zone,” said Tsunoda. “But if you compare Q3 appearances, qualifying results, and race results, it’s clear I’m performing well compared to others.”

Tsunoda believes other factors are considered because they look at other drivers too: “There are rumors but looking at performance alone shows I’m doing great.”

What do you think will happen next?
