Yuki Tsunoda is having a great year in Formula 1, and he might get a Red Bull Racing seat soon.
He finished tenth at the British Grand Prix and was very happy about it. “Yeah, definitely happy. Especially we didn’t expect to score points this week based on the free practice sessions,” said Tsunoda. He knew the key moment at Silverstone: “The main positive with this race was able to maintain or close the gap with the rain conditions to the cars in front, the faster cars. And it made enough gap to score points in the second half in dry conditions.”
This season, rain has been tricky for him, but things went well in Britain. “This race I could definitely appreciate it,” laughed Tsunoda. Making good choices during races can be hard. “Communication is very important with the engineers. And it’s almost sometimes luck.”
Finally Points Again
Tsunoda scored his 20th World Cup point of 2024 at Silverstone. Earlier this year, between Australia and Monaco, he had five races out of six where he got points. But then came Canada, Spain, and Austria where he didn’t finish in the top ten.
The next stop? Hungary! “I think these three tracks were pretty high-speed tracks, and we’re going to the slow-speed tracks in Hungary. So, hopefully we can use our strengths and be back fighting in the top 10.” Fans are excited about what’s next!
Tsunoda will stay with his current team through 2025 after signing a new one-year deal recently.
