Tsunoda Eyes Comeback Following Red Bull Seat Loss

Tsunoda Optimistic About F1 Future Despite Red Bull Exit

Yuki Tsunoda believes he won’t be stuck on the sidelines for long after losing his Red Bull Racing seat for the 2026 season.

“There’s a chance that my next year won’t be limited to simulator and reserve driver work. I’ve heard about a few possible scenarios,” the Japanese driver revealed in a recent interview with DAZN Japan.

The 25-year-old’s journey with Red Bull took an unexpected turn this year. After being promoted from the Racing Bulls team to the main Red Bull outfit ahead of his home Japanese Grand Prix earlier in 2025, things didn’t go as planned.

His struggles on track eventually led to the team announcing he would be replaced for 2026, downgraded to a reserve driver role.

French youngster Isack Hadjar will take his spot alongside Max Verstappen when the new regulations kick in for 2026.

But Tsunoda isn’t letting this setback crush his spirits.

“I’m only 25, and I have my whole life ahead of me. This is just the beginning,” he insisted.

## Career Perspective

Former F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve recently suggested Tsunoda should feel grateful for the opportunity he’s had, despite how things ended.

The outspoken Canadian pointed out that driving for a team like Red Bull has given Tsunoda valuable experience that could help him land seats with other top teams – possibly even outside Formula 1.

Villeneuve also mentioned the financial benefits Tsunoda has enjoyed during his time with the Milton Keynes-based outfit, suggesting the Japanese driver has done well for himself regardless of this career setback.

With several teams potentially looking to refresh their driver lineups for 2026 when the new regulations arrive, Tsunoda’s experience with a top team could make him an attractive option elsewhere on the grid.

## Post-Season Updates

As the dust settles on the 2025 season finale, there’s plenty of driver market movement to follow.

The upcoming weeks could be crucial for determining whether Tsunoda’s confidence about a quick return is justified or just wishful thinking.
