With the 2025 F1 season now in the books, Lando Norris has finally dethroned Max Verstappen, ending the Dutchman’s impressive four-year championship streak.
But it wasn’t an easy road to glory.
Verstappen refused to fade away after the summer break. Despite looking like he was out of contention following the Dutch Grand Prix, he mounted an incredible comeback that took the championship fight all the way to the final race.
He ultimately fell short by just two points. Two!
Perhaps the biggest heartbreak story belongs to Oscar Piastri. The Australian led the championship for a remarkable 15 straight races and built up a massive 104-point lead over Verstappen after Zandvoort. But he couldn’t hold on, slipping back in the season’s closing stages to finish behind both his teammate and the four-time world champion.
The 2025 season gave us plenty of unforgettable moments.
Remember Verstappen’s jaw-dropping overtake on Piastri at Emilia Romagna? That move rightfully earned him the FIA’s Overtake of the Year award.
Then there was Norris’s shocking retirement at the Dutch Grand Prix that threw the championship wide open.
And who could forget Verstappen’s breathtaking comeback in São Paulo? It was déjà vu of his heroics from the previous season.
The drama didn’t stop there. Ferrari suffered that sensational double disqualification in China, while McLaren was excluded in Qatar.
And of course, the Abu Dhabi showdown proved to be the perfect season finale. Norris held his nerve under immense pressure when it mattered most.
Lewis Hamilton fans had little to celebrate this year. His first—and so far only—victory with Ferrari came during the Chinese Grand Prix weekend Sprint race. That lone highlight stood out in what was otherwise a tough season for the seven-time world champion.
The question remains: which of the 24 races delivered the most drama and twists? It’s honestly hard to pick just one from this rollercoaster season.
