Tsunoda’s Pitlane Drama: Collision with Antonelli Adds to Abu Dhabi Chaos
Yuki Tsunoda found himself in the middle of not one but two incidents during Abu Dhabi practice today, with the second resulting in an actual collision with Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli.
The contact happened when Antonelli was leaving his garage while Tsunoda was already moving through the fast lane. The young Italian simply couldn’t react in time to avoid hitting the RB21.
Stewards immediately flagged the unsafe release for investigation.
Tsunoda didn’t hold back his frustration over team radio, shouting: “I had a massive crash, ****.”
Antonelli seemed equally surprised by the incident, responding to his team: “Ah man, Yuki… You told me yes and it was… Tsunoda was coming.”
This wasn’t Tsunoda’s only brush with trouble today. He’s also under investigation for an earlier incident with Lando Norris, where the two nearly collided at Turn 12.
Pitlane incidents are becoming something of a trend this season. Charles Leclerc had a similar collision with Norris during the Singapore Grand Prix just weeks ago.
The drama added extra spice to what was already an eventful practice session in Abu Dhabi.
