Slow Monaco Drivers Over 40: What It Really Means

Ralf Schumacher took a swipe at Nico Rosberg over comments about his brother Michael, saying: “If you’re behind a driver over 40 in Monaco, that says it all.”

The brothers Schumacher clearly stick together when it comes to family honor.

Rosberg and Michael Schumacher were teammates at Mercedes from 2010 to 2012, chosen to lead the Silver Arrows’ comeback to Formula 1. But those years weren’t exactly golden for the team. In fact, Rosberg was the only one who managed to win a race during that time, grabbing victory in 2012 — Michael’s final season before hanging up his helmet for good.

Rosberg has frequently talked about Michael’s psychological warfare, sharing a story about Monaco qualifying where the seven-time champion supposedly timed his bathroom exit perfectly to throw Rosberg off his game.

When asked about this bathroom tale, Ralf didn’t hold back.

“Everyone ticks differently. The fact that Nico says this so openly today does him credit. It’s not how I see things, but then again, I never became a world champion,” he told SPORT1.

“He won a title against a seven-time champion — and that’s no small feat. Still, you can see what makes him tick, even now. For him, it’s always about mind games. He’s still telling stories about my brother — about alleged psychological tricks in toilets or car parks.”

Ralf then delivered the knockout blow.

“I know Michael. At that point, he was already at a completely different stage of his career. In the end, Nico simply should have put his foot down. If you’re behind a driver over 40 in Monaco, that says it all.”

Ouch.

## Rosberg still haunted by Hamilton “problem”

After Michael left F1, Rosberg found himself battling another superstar driver. His fierce rivalry with Lewis Hamilton ran from 2013 to 2016, culminating in Rosberg winning the championship before shockingly retiring from the sport.

The two had been close friends since their karting days, but that friendship crumbled under the pressure of fighting for F1’s biggest prize.

Rosberg has recently opened up about his complicated relationship with Hamilton in interviews, showing those old wounds haven’t fully healed.
