Red Bull Racing might want to think about Oscar Piastri for their future team lineup. Ralf Schumacher, who used to race in Formula 1, thinks they shouldn’t just count on Verstappen being around in 2026.
“If I were Red Bull, I’d try to bring in Piastri,” said Schumacher. “He’s a super talent and a pure racer. He’ll improve over time, and the small gaps between him and Norris will vanish soon.”
Why Red Bull Should Consider Piastri
Schumacher also mentioned that Red Bull can’t be sure Verstappen will stay with them in 2026. They need to be ready for anything. Piastri could be the perfect fit if Verstappen leaves. It’ll be interesting to see what McLaren does about Piastri in the coming years.
Helmut Marko shared with F1 Insider that Mark Webber, who manages Piastri and raced for Red Bull before, is talking with Christian Horner. Webber and Horner get along well because of their history at Red Bull and work together in Formula 3.
Fans might wonder if this means big changes are coming for the teams.
Schumacher isn’t alone in thinking Piastri could join Red Bull. Christian Fittipaldi also suggested that Piastri might switch from McLaren to Red Bull as Sergio Perez‘s replacement next year. But he noted it depends on how things go at McLaren by year’s end and what’s expected from him against Lando Norris in his fight with Verstappen.
What do you think? Should Red Bull take a chance on Piastri?
