Sainz Open to World Title Possibility with Williams: ‘I Can Win’

Carlos Sainz believes he can win a Formula 1 World Championship with Williams. He’ll join the team after the 2024 season because Ferrari chose Lewis Hamilton to race with Charles Leclerc in 2025.

Right now, Sainz is focused on doing well with Ferrari and helping them climb higher in the Constructors’ Championship. Once this year ends, he’ll shift his sights to bringing back Williams’ past glory.

Sainz has just turned 30 and is at his career peak. With vast experience across different teams, he knows how to clinch victories and work well with others when needed. Yet, he’s moving down the grid.

Dreaming Big: “I want to become world champion soon”

“I believe I have everything it takes to be world champion,” Sainz shared with Straits Times. “If they give me the right car at the right time, I can win it.” He doesn’t want to wait long for this dream: “I wish to become a world champion soon,” he added.

After four years at Ferrari, where he’ll step aside for Hamilton next year, Sainz admits he’ll miss racing alongside Leclerc. “We’ve built a very strong relationship over these four years… and we’ve managed to keep a very mature relationship, being very competitive and very successful as we brought Ferrari a lot of good points and good race victories,” he concluded.

Fans might wonder if Sainz can truly bring back Williams’ golden days.

As he moves forward in his journey, what do you think about his chances?
