Russell Criticizes Verstappen for Unsportsmanlike Behavior

George Russell couldn’t believe what Max Verstappen did at the Mexican Grand Prix. He thought Verstappen’s actions against Lando Norris were not fair play, and he mentioned that almost all drivers want rule changes right away.

At the start of the race, Norris passed Verstappen, but Verstappen fought back and pushed Norris off track on the same lap. The officials blamed Verstappen twice and gave him two ten-second penalties.

Russell shocked by Verstappen

Russell, who had a good race with Lewis Hamilton, talked about how Verstappen behaved. He liked racing with Hamilton because it was tough but fair.

“It was nice to have the battle. It’s always good when you fight with Lewis because it’s hard and fair, and at the moment we’ve seen a number of manoeuvres that are just getting beyond entertainment, or beyond sort of sportsmanship, almost unfair to a point now,” Russell said after the race.

He compared it to an intense race in Brazil between Verstappen and Hamilton in 2021. They talked about changing racing rules in a meeting, but one driver didn’t want changes right away.

“I think the stewards are totally on board with what needs to change. Our view is, I think the biggest discussion is they wanted to wait until ’25, so it’s something consistent through this year. I would say 19 out of 20 drivers said, ‘well, if it’s incorrect, make the change today’. And I’m glad to see those incidents were punished and I suspect moving forward in Brazil what we saw today and what we saw last week you won’t be able to get away with.”

Fans might think it’s time for some new rules!

What do you think? Should they change the rules now or wait?
