George Russell and his girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt are putting down roots in Spain, with the couple recently purchasing their first home together in her hometown.
“We bought a flat in my hometown that’s now being finished,” Carmen shared in an Instagram story. “The older I get, the more I value time with my family and friends, since I don’t get it that often.”
The Mercedes F1 driver and his partner currently live in Monaco, like many Formula 1 stars including Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon.
But this new property gives them another place to call home.
“Buying my first home in Jerez was really important to me,” Carmen explained.
The couple apparently share a hands-on approach to their new property. Carmen revealed they’re well-suited for the remodeling process, saying: “We relax doing and fixing things. We can’t sit still for too long I’m afraid.”
Russell and Montero Mundt have been dating publicly since 2020. While she’s Spanish, Carmen studied business management and finance at the University of Westminster in London.
After finishing her education, she built her own career in the investment sector while supporting Russell during his climb up the Formula 1 ladder.
## Russell shines with podium finish in Azerbaijan
The British driver grabbed an impressive second place behind Max Verstappen at last Sunday’s race in Baku, after starting from fifth position on the grid.
His performance caught the attention of Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff.
“Our first analysis showed that we were within a tenth of Max in terms of pure performance,” Wolff commented. “So I think, yes, it would have been a race at the front, at least.”
The Austrian team principal was particularly impressed with Russell’s pace throughout the race.
“Whether it would have been enough for a win, I don’t know, but the car was good on both tyres and his pace was impressive.”
