Rosberg Explains Why Russell Needs to Stay Alert at Mercedes

George Russell needs to keep performing well to stay at Mercedes, even though he has a contract until 2025.

Nico Rosberg believes that Toto Wolff will do everything he can to bring Max Verstappen to the team.

Rosberg: ‘Showdown Between Russell and Antonelli’

“George is not safe at all because Toto still wants Max,” Rosberg told Sky Sports. “He’ll try again for 2026 because ‘give up’ is not in Toto’s vocabulary. If Max becomes available – and I think it’s possible – then it’s a showdown between George and Kimi next year,” the former champion added.

Rosberg thinks Russell will face huge pressure and must keep performing well. “It’s a lot of pressure on George as he has everything to lose. He should be the one ahead at the team internally, because Kimi is 18 and he’s completely new and in a full-pressure situation, so it’s not an easy situation,” Rosberg explained.

Fans might wonder if this news means big changes are coming for Mercedes.

Rosberg knows what he’s talking about; he drove for Mercedes from 2010 to 2016 before retiring as a world champion.

Do you think George will keep his seat?
