After a relaxing summer break, Daniel Ricciardo is ready to race again. Formula 1 resumes in Zandvoort this weekend after a three-week pause, and the Australian hopes to build on recent positive performances.
Ricciardo has had steady results in his VCARB 01 car. His best finish was P4 in the Miami GP sprint race. Despite this, teammate Yuki Tsunoda has outscored him 22 to 12 over the first 14 races.
“It’s been a great summer break. I got back to Australia to see some friends and family, so I’m feeling recharged, fit and healthy,” Ricciardo said.
Ricciardo: ‘Zandvoort is where my year turned upside down’
“I’m looking forward to getting back to Zandvoort. Last year, it’s where my year turned upside down, but until the accident with Oscar, I was really enjoying the circuit,” he revealed. Ricciardo took over from Nyck De Vries at Alpha Tauri after the British Grand Prix last year. He impressed initially but didn’t score any points before his crash at Zandvoort, where he broke his hand following Oscar Piastri into the barriers at turn three. Liam Lawson replaced him for five races while he recovered. The Kiwi scored two points in Singapore but hasn’t secured a full-time seat yet.
Fans might think it’s exciting to see if Ricciardo can bounce back strong.
“I’m confident we can continue where we left off before the break; our momentum was strong and we’re definitely in the fight for some points,” Ricciardo concluded. VCARB sits seven points ahead of Haas in sixth place and aims to extend their lead this weekend in Zandvoort.
What do you think? Will Ricciardo make a strong comeback?
