Red Bull Racing has done it again, claiming their seventh straight DHL Fastest Pit Stop award after another year of lightning-quick tire changes in Formula 1.
The team hasn’t been beaten in pit stop speed since 2018, showing just how dominant they’ve been in this crucial part of racing.
Jonathan Wheatley accepted the award in Abu Dhabi for the team – his last major achievement with Red Bull before he heads to Sauber in mid-2025.
"Seven victories in the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award are a testament to our entire team’s exceptional consistency and precision," Wheatley said. "Every pit stop is a perfectly choreographed demonstration of teamwork."
It’s pretty amazing when you think about it – getting four tires changed in just over two seconds requires incredible coordination from every single crew member.
Meanwhile, Lando Norris picked up his own piece of hardware, winning the award for fastest race laps of the season.
The McLaren star was quick to share the credit with his team.
"It’s mega to win this award for the team," Norris said. "Every lap counts, and without the people involved behind the scenes, I would not have the car to win these kinds of awards – so a big thanks to them for all their hard work this year."
When Wheatley moves to Sauber next year, he’ll be joining forces with Mattia Binotto, the former Ferrari boss who’s now serving as the team’s Chief Technical Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
The pit stop and fastest lap awards wrap up what’s been an incredible season of Formula 1, with teams already turning their attention to 2024.
