Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari could shake up the 2025 Formula 1 title race – but his success might depend on how quickly he clicks with his new team.
Red Bull boss Christian Horner thinks Hamilton has what it takes to fight for another championship, as long as he starts the season strong.
“If he gets off to a good start, and he gets a team behind him, and he finds his confidence, and he rides off that energy, then I can see him becoming a real contender,” Horner said at the F1 75 Live event.
It’s not just about raw speed. Hamilton will need to win over Ferrari and convince them to put their weight behind him instead of his new teammate Charles Leclerc.
Those first few races could make or break Hamilton’s season.
“So much will depend on how he gels with the team in that early part of the season,” Horner explained.
Hamilton’s no rookie when it comes to switching teams. The seven-time world champion has already proven he can adapt and win with different organizations.
That experience could be huge for Ferrari. Horner knows it too.
“We all know what Lewis is capable of, and if he’s re-energized in a different environment, absolutely, I think he could be a real factor this year,” the Red Bull chief said.
The big question now is whether Ferrari can give Hamilton a car worthy of his talents – and whether the British superstar can bring his championship magic to the most famous team in F1.
