Christian Horner and Red Bull Racing just got some good news.
After losing several key members recently, they’ve managed to secure a contract extension for Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen’s race engineer, according to PlanetF1.
Lambiase had offers from teams like Ferrari and McLaren but chose to stay with Red Bull out of loyalty to the team and Christian Horner. This decision will surely please Verstappen, who was upset by the recent departures of Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley.
Possible New Role for Lambiase?
It’s not clear yet what role Lambiase will have at Red Bull. He might take over some of Wheatley’s responsibilities since he is already the head of race engineering. Red Bull mentioned earlier that Wheatley’s tasks would be handled internally, maybe shared among several people.
Lambiase has been crucial to Red Bull’s success lately. He has a strong bond with Verstappen, even though they sometimes argue over the radio while trying to achieve the best results each weekend. If ‘GP’ stays as Max’s race engineer next year, they’ll be spending a lot of time together, especially since Lewis Hamilton and Peter Bonnington are parting ways soon.
Fans might think this is great news for Verstappen’s future races.
