Red Bull has added two rising stars to its Junior Team, bringing on Swiss driver Chiara Bättig and Italian Mattia Colnaghi.
Fifteen-year-old Bättig will jump from karting straight to Formula 4 next season. She’ll represent Red Bull Racing as part of their development program.
Colnaghi is making a bigger leap – heading to Formula 3 where he’ll drive for MP Motorsport.
“I’m super excited about the opportunity handed to me by MP Motorsport and the Red Bull Junior Team,” Colnaghi said. “Joining the Grand Prix weekends as a Formula 3 driver is a dream come true.”
The young Italian currently leads the Eurocup-3 championship standings.
He’s especially looking forward to continuing his relationship with MP Motorsport, a team he’s clearly bonded with.
“I’m truly grateful to Helmut Marko and Red Bull for allowing me to demonstrate my racing skills in FIA F3, while staying with MP is the obvious choice,” Colnaghi explained. “They have become my family in the past two years and have helped me grow as a driver.”
The move to sign these young talents shows Red Bull’s ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of F1 stars – something they’ve been incredibly successful with over the years.
“I believe that working with them in Formula 3 will be just as enjoyable and successful,” Colnaghi added.
