Red Bull Racing had to stop using a special trick on their RB20 car’s floor before the Singapore Grand Prix because the FIA warned them it wasn’t allowed.
The FIA reminded Red Bull after qualifying that changing the car’s ride height before the race was against the rules. This happened just before the United States Grand Prix, as other teams had raised concerns about a Red Bull component. The FIA plans to make testing stricter in the future to prevent such changes when cars are in parc fermé.
FIA’s Warning Before Singapore GP
According to The Race, Red Bull was told they couldn’t adjust the ride height between qualifying and the race at Singapore. They had to keep the same setup for both events. This means that at the Circuit of the Americas, they will be racing without this device for the first time. Red Bull mentioned that once their car is fully assembled, this tool couldn’t be used anyway.
Max Verstappen explained that they did have a mechanism to change the ride height at the front, but only when the car was taken apart. Despite this, Red Bull said they have “agreed a plan for the future” with the FIA about using this mechanism. Fans might wonder if these changes will affect Red Bull’s performance in upcoming races.
What do you think? Is it fair for teams to use such tricks or should everyone play by strict rules?
