Red Bull F1 Shock: Ex-Boss Reacts to Helmut Marko’s Exit

Helmut Marko’s Red Bull exit won’t rock the boat, says Steiner

Red Bull Racing will be just fine without Helmut Marko, according to former Haas boss Guenther Steiner.

“I don’t know if they are better off, but I don’t think they will be worse off because the team is well established,” Steiner said on the Red Flags podcast.

The Italian-American believes the Milton Keynes outfit has enough stability to weather Marko’s departure without missing a beat.

“Under Laurent’s leadership, they know what they want and what they do. Since he came in, he has done a good job.”

Steiner even suggested that bringing Marko back wouldn’t be complicated if the team felt his absence next season.

“If something happens, Helmut Marko can always come back. That’s my opinion. If they feel something is missing after the first half of next season, they can just call Helmut back.”

Age is likely playing a role in Marko’s decision to step away.

“Helmut’s situation also has to do with his age. Travelling to all the Grands Prix has simply become a bit more difficult for him.”

## Marko takes blame for Verstappen’s title loss

In a surprising admission, Marko accepted partial responsibility for Max Verstappen losing the championship to Lando Norris by just two points.

“We didn’t provide him with a car that was on par often enough and I partly blame myself for that,” the Austrian said.

Verstappen nearly pulled off what would have been an incredible comeback that would have made F1 history.

Despite falling short, the Dutchman’s effort will still be remembered as one of the most remarkable title fights in recent years.
