Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari has got everyone talking – including one of Red Bull’s most well-known mechanics.
Calum Nicholas, who’s seen plenty from inside the Red Bull garage, thinks Hamilton’s switch could light a real fire under the seven-time world champion.
“It’s really exciting. I think if you’re going to get the best out of Lewis, it’s going to be when he’s fired up like a new opportunity like this at Ferrari. I think we’re all aware it clearly means a great deal to him,” Nicholas told talkSPORT.
The move to Ferrari isn’t just any team switch. It’s about joining arguably the most iconic name in motorsport – something that’s been on many drivers’ bucket lists.
“Ferrari, with its history and passion, is something that a lot of drivers want to have as a part of their careers,” Nicholas explained.
He’s particularly interested in how Hamilton will work with his new teammate Charles Leclerc. “I think he and Charles will work really well together. From the limited interaction I have with Charles, he seemed like the kind of guy who’s always going to want to learn from someone with sort of the experience of Lewis.”
Nicholas isn’t just any mechanic. He’s become a familiar voice in F1 circles, regularly appearing on sports podcasts where he dishes about everything from Max Verstappen‘s colorful radio messages to the dramatic 2021 season.
For those wanting more insider stories from the pitlane, Nicholas has put his experiences into writing. His book “Life in the Pitlane” hits shelves this month.
