Red Bull Clarifies: Verstappen Was Never Considered for Mercedes

Mercedes has decided not to bring Max Verstappen to their team in 2025.

The team had hoped for the reigning world champion, but it was never going to happen. Christian Horner confirmed that Verstappen was “never” available to Toto Wolff.

“As we’ve been saying all year, we know our deal with Max,” Horner told Sky Sports News. “Max knows his deal with us. And he’s definitely not available to Mercedes for 2025, never was.”

Mercedes’ New Focus:

Now, Mercedes seems to be looking at Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The 17-year-old Italian skipped Formula 3 and is now driving for Prema in F2. “So, I’m sure whatever options they choose to take, they’ve thought carefully about. And if they choose to give Antonelli the seat, then you’ve got to commend them for that. I think it’s good they’re taking a risk with a youngster,” said the Brit.

Fans might think this is an interesting twist!

Red Bull Juniors’ Prospects:

Red Bull has Isack Hadjar in Formula 2. The young Frenchman leads the standings but doesn’t have an F1 seat next year. Liam Lawson is also in the mix but isn’t guaranteed a spot with Red Bull Racing or Visa Cash App RB in 2025.

What do you think? Should Mercedes take a chance on young talent?
