Schumacher revealed his same-sex relationship by posting a photo with his partner. Many people reacted positively, but some were negative. Hulkenberg believes online negativity won’t disappear soon.
“It’s a very personal matter but I congratulate him,” Hulkenberg said. “In modern times where diversity and adversity are crucial, hate still exists, especially online where people can hide and abuse easily.”
Piastri respects Schumacher’s choice. “I think it’s great he feels comfortable coming out like that,” said the McLaren driver. “We want our sport to be inclusive and safe for everyone. Congratulations to him; it’s a good thing.”
