Ralf Schumacher shared his thoughts on Mick Schumacher’s slim chance of joining Stake Sauber, which will be called Audi in 2026. He felt hopeful but is happy to see a new racer in Formula 1.
Stake Sauber announced their drivers for the 2024 season on Wednesday. Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas will leave, making way for young Gabriel Bortoleto, who will join Nico Hulkenberg.
Ralf’s Reaction to the Driver Lineup
Sauber had many choices for their team. Mick Schumacher, son of Michael Schumacher, was one option for returning to F1 with the future Audi team. Ralf Schumacher shared his thoughts on this decision.
“The hope was there until the end that Mick would get a chance. But another new, young face in Formula 1, I like that,” Ralf said to Sky Germany.
Though Ralf doesn’t think Mick will return to F1 soon, he knows anything can happen in racing. “Formula 1 is a crazy business. You saw it with Franco Colapinto, who is now in the limelight. If you get the chance, something can happen. But I think it will be difficult after such a long time,” he explained.
Fans might feel mixed about this news; some are excited about fresh talent while others miss familiar faces.
