Pirelli has announced the tyre choices for the Spanish Grand Prix.
They picked the hardest compounds for this race.
Pirelli’s Strategy for Spain GP:
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is tough on cars and tyres. So, Pirelli chose the hardest tyres: C1, C2, and C3. These are the same as those used in Bahrain’s first race.
This year’s race is three weeks later than last year, which might mean warmer weather. Warmer temperatures could make the C3 tyre less effective, even though it performed well last year. But right now, it doesn’t look like it will be very hot during the Spanish GP.
Pirelli suggests that a two-stop strategy might be fastest. All tyre compounds could be used. If tyres wear out quickly, a three-stop strategy could also work since overtaking is easier now than before. Fans might find this news exciting!
Qualifying is super important at this track. In 24 races here, whoever started from pole position won the race most of the time. Plus, four times drivers who were fastest in qualifying had to retire from the race.
