Piastri Sets Unwanted Record After Heartbreaking Title Loss

Oscar Piastri suffered another cruel twist to his 2025 season, on top of losing the title to his team-mate.

The Australian just went through a crushing world-title defeat in Abu Dhabi. He gambled everything on an alternative strategy, but in the end, it wasn’t enough. He finished behind Max Verstappen, who pulled off an amazing comeback and missed his fifth straight title by just two points.

Piastri had been leading the championship for most of the season. He grabbed the top spot in Saudi Arabia and only lost it in Mexico.

He spent an impressive 15 Grands Prix as the championship leader.

But here’s the painful irony – that impressive streak ended up haunting him. He’s now earned the unwanted record of being the driver who led the championship for the most races without ever winning the title in F1 history.

That’s got to hurt.

Piastri on the receiving end of England fans’ taunt during The Ashes

Cricket’s fiercest rivalry has been heating up in Melbourne over the past few days, with England and Australia facing off in the fourth Test of The Ashes series.

The match took place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground – right in Piastri’s hometown.

The F1 star took the opportunity to attend the game and even spoke to some media while there.

At one point, England’s famous “Barmy Army” supporters were heard directing a playful chant at Piastri about his championship defeat.

He seemed to take it well, responding with a smile despite the fresh wound of his recent title loss.
