Perez: Comprehensive Guide & Insights

Sergio Perez is very impressed with the new rookies in the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Newcomers like Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Franco Colapinto, and Jack Doohan are making waves in motorsport. Bearman and Colapinto have particularly stood out during their F1 appearances. Antonelli, Bearman, and Doohan will all be racing in the 2025 season, while Colapinto has been keeping pace with Alex Albon since replacing Logan Sargeant before the Italian Grand Prix. Perez had positive things to say about all these rookies.

“They’ve done a great job. And I think especially with them, when you think about it, they are not the guys winning, but then they come in and they do a fantastic job,” said Perez.

Bearman stepped in for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix when Carlos Sainz got appendicitis and shone immediately. This performance earned him a seat at Haas F1 for 2025. Colapinto has also been performing well since replacing Sargeant, but with Carlos Sainz joining Williams, Audi seems to be his only option for now.

Perez “hopes” Audi chooses Colapinto

Perez is rooting for Colapinto to secure a seat at Sauber (soon to be Audi) in 2026. “I really hope for Franco that he’s able to find that Audi seat for him. It would be a shame that after the job that he’s doing, he doesn’t get a seat for next year,” said Perez. He added that going back to F2 could risk Colapinto’s career due to its unpredictable nature. Fans might agree that young drivers bring fresh excitement to the sport.

Perez believes it’s fantastic to see young drivers come in confidently and deliver great results right away. It’s always inspiring to witness such talent on the track .
