Norris Reveals Why His Confidence is at an All-Time High

Lando Norris is feeling on top of the world after securing his second career pole position.

McLaren has had a fantastic start to the 2024 season, and Norris’ first win at the Miami Grand Prix shows he’s ready to compete at the front. His recent performance in Spain, where he beat Max Verstappen by just +0.020s, further proves it.

Why Norris Feels More Confident

Norris believes this is the best McLaren has ever been. “Certainly from a team side, absolutely, it is the best the car has been, 100% from a team point of view,” he said after taking P1 in Barcelona qualifying. He had predicted at the start of the season that they would challenge Red Bull and not let them dominate. Fans might think this makes races more exciting to watch.

Despite these successes, there have been missed opportunities for wins. At Imola, Norris finished just behind Verstappen as he chased him down. In Canada, a poor strategy call during a safety car period cost him another chance at victory.

“Imola and Canada, I think we should have had a better chance,” continued Norris. “We didn’t do the best of jobs, but we should have had a better chance; certainly there have been enough opportunities now to probably fight for a win.”
