Newey’s Future Uncertain: ‘That’s Not My Motivation’

Adrian Newey doesn’t pay much attention to what the media says about him.

He relies on his wife, Amanda, to keep him updated with a rough summary of the news. Recently, almost everyone in the F1 paddock has been praising him, and many teams are eager to hire him.

Newey’s Future Plans

The big question now is what Newey will do next as he steps down from Red Bull Racing. Will he join another team or retire? He didn’t give a clear answer. “From the age of 10 or 11, I always wanted to be a designer in motor racing,” said Newey. “I’ve managed to achieve that, so everything else is a bonus really.” When asked about his next project, he simply said that his passion lies in adding performance to race cars.

“My passion has always been trying to add performance to cars,” Newey mentioned. “The rest is part of it but not what wakes me up and motivates me.”

Fans might wonder if this means he’ll continue working with cars or try something new.

Newey Happy with Time Off

Right now, he’s still involved with the RB17 project, which was presented at Goodwood. By early 2025, he’ll leave Red Bull for good. “At the same time, [I can] also take a bit of holiday time,” he said. “I’ve been kind of in the business pretty much non-stop for a long time now, so having a little bit of a break is nice!”

What do you think Newey should do next?
