Mercedes is teaming up with adidas in a groundbreaking move that’s bringing the famous three stripes to Formula 1 for the first time ever.
The German sportswear giant will create special team gear for the Silver Arrows, designing custom kit for everyone from the pit crew to the drivers.
It’s a pretty big deal for F1, where team wear has traditionally been more about function than fashion.
“F1 is reaching new consumers and has a big influence on sport and street culture,” says adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden. “We’re extremely proud to bring the Three Stripes into F1 with one of the most successful teams ever.”
The partnership isn’t just about looking good in the paddock. adidas is promising to push boundaries with gear that’s specifically designed for each team member’s role – whether they’re changing tires in seconds or sitting in a 200mph cockpit.
Toto Wolff, Mercedes team boss, is clearly excited about what’s coming.
“This is a clear statement of intent as we begin to write our next chapter,” he says. “adidas shares our dedication not just to peak performance but also to style and sophistication.”
Fans won’t have to wait long to get their hands on the new gear. The first adidas x Mercedes-AMG collection drops in February, just in time for the 2025 season.
The timing couldn’t be more interesting. Mercedes is heading into a new era with teenage sensation Kimi Antonelli joining George Russell, following Lewis Hamilton‘s shocking move to Ferrari.
This multi-year deal suggests both brands are thinking big about the future of F1 fashion. Could this be the start of a whole new look for the sport?
