Mercedes Announces Race Engineer Lineup for Russell & Rookie Antonelli

Mercedes has confirmed who will serve as race engineers for George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Marcus Dudley and Peter “Bono” Bonnington will continue as the voices in the drivers’ ears when they’re out on track.

Dudley remains Russell’s Senior Race Engineer, while Bono will work with F1 newcomer Antonelli. Bonnington isn’t just handling race engineer duties though – he’ll also serve as Head of Race Engineering for the team.

Bono has been part of Mercedes since day one. He became a household name among F1 fans as Lewis Hamilton‘s race engineer, the calm voice behind countless race wins and championships.

When Hamilton announced his shocking move to Ferrari, many wondered if Bono might follow him. That was never going to happen, as Bonnington had a contract keeping him at Mercedes.

Hamilton has been working with Riccardo Adami as his race engineer at Ferrari this season. The partnership hasn’t been smooth sailing, with some awkward radio conversations highlighting their communication struggles.

GPblog reported last week that despite these challenges, Adami will continue as Hamilton’s race engineer in 2026.
