Mercedes Acknowledges Areas for Improvement: ‘McLaren & Max Lead the Way’

The 2024 season started tough for Mercedes, but they’ve bounced back.

In the last four races, Mercedes won three times, thanks to George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. Andrew Shovlin talked about what still needs work.

Where can Mercedes still improve

Shovlin mentioned that the Hungarian Grand Prix showed a problem with the W15 car. “In hot conditions, we struggle on rear-limited circuits. We’re not as good as McLaren or Max [Verstappen]. At tracks like Budapest, our rear tires get too hot, and we need more base performance,” he said.

“We have good ideas, but it’s a long road from having an idea to putting parts on the car and making it faster,” Shovlin added.

Mercedes is currently fourth in the constructors’ championship with 266 points after 14 races. They trail Ferrari by 79 points but are comfortably ahead of Aston Martin by 193 points.

Fans might think this comeback is exciting!
