Norris Fires Back at Red Bull: “They Complain About Everything”
Lando Norris isn’t holding back after Red Bull’s latest complaints about his driving during Singapore Grand Prix qualifying.
“They always complain. They complain about everything. That’s Red Bull,” the McLaren driver said with frustration clearly showing in his voice.
The controversy erupted after Max Verstappen aborted his final qualifying lap in Q3, with the Dutch driver’s team suggesting Norris was somehow responsible.
Norris couldn’t believe the accusation. “I was like three seconds ahead. I can’t work it out,” he said, dismissing the claims during his post-qualifying media session.
The incident occurred when Verstappen locked up entering the final corner before abandoning his pole position attempt. His race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, quickly pointed to Norris as a possible factor in the mistake.
Verstappen will be hoping for better fortunes in Sunday’s race after the qualifying disappointment.
## McLaren’s Pace Concerns
Despite the drama with Red Bull, Norris admitted he wasn’t shocked by their rivals’ speed in Singapore.
“We just didn’t have the pace,” he said after qualifying fifth on the grid.
The 25-year-old pointed out that Marina Bay has traditionally been a challenging circuit for McLaren.
He also highlighted how rival teams have been closing the performance gap that McLaren had built up earlier in the season, making their once “uncatchable” advantage disappear in recent races.
The tighter competition sets up what could be an intense battle in Sunday’s night race under the Singapore lights.
McLaren will be looking to maximize their points haul despite starting behind their main championship rivals.
