McLaren shocked the Formula 1 world by becoming the first team to unveil their 2025 car, taking everyone by surprise with an early reveal at Silverstone.
Lando Norris wasted no time getting behind the wheel of the MCL39, putting in the first laps on a chilly Thursday morning.
It’s a big moment for the team, who are riding high after clinching the 2024 Constructors’ Championship. Now they’re hungry for more – including a possible shot at the Drivers’ title.
“We’re really excited to see the MCL39 hit the track for the first time,” said team principal Andrea Stella. He’s keeping his feet firmly on the ground though, knowing just how tough F1 can be.
“Last year showed us how incredibly competitive the grid is,” Stella explained. “Even as champions, we can’t take anything for granted.”
The Italian boss knows his team learned some valuable lessons from their battles last season. Those experiences have shaped their approach to the new car.
The development of the MCL39 has been a massive team effort, with McLaren’s engineers working around the clock to get everything ready for today’s launch. They’ve also been working closely with their engine partners at Mercedes.
But there’s no time to celebrate just yet. The team is already focused on making the most of pre-season testing before the championship kicks off in Australia.
With the rest of the grid yet to show their hands, all eyes will be on McLaren to see if they can defend their crown in what promises to be another intense season of racing.
