Max Verstappen’s Victory Draws Criticism from Mercedes’ Wolff & Hamilton

Max Verstappen‘s dad just revealed what he thinks is his son’s greatest moment in Formula 1, and it might surprise some fans.

Jos Verstappen can’t help but beam with pride when he talks about his son’s incredible 2024 season. It wasn’t easy – Max had to fight harder than ever before in a car that just wasn’t performing like it should.

That’s quite a change from 2023, when Max dominated the field and only lost once all year.

“He was amazing in 2023, but 2024 really showed what he’s made of,” Jos explained. “The car wasn’t the best anymore, so Max had to drive right on the edge without any mistakes. And boy, did he deliver – that’s when everyone saw just how special he is compared to other drivers.”

But ask Jos about Max’s greatest moment, and he’ll take you back to 2021.

“Nothing beats your first championship,” Jos said. “Winning it on the last lap in Abu Dhabi 2021 – that’s something you never forget. Sure, Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton probably don’t love hearing about it, but that’s racing.”

The proud father remembers sitting with Max right after that race, looking back at how far they’d come together. “It was really emotional for both of us,” he shared.

2024 had its own magic moments too. Jos points to the Brazilian Grand Prix as a perfect example of Max’s incredible skill.

“Starting from the back in that crazy rain in Sao Paulo? Most drivers would’ve struggled just to keep the car on track. But Max? He drove like it was a sunny day. Pretty special to watch.”

The way Max handled that weaker RB20 car throughout 2024 really proved something to his dad – and to everyone watching. While other teams were getting faster, Max just kept finding ways to win.
