Max Verstappen isn’t just winning races – he’s writing his name alongside Formula 1’s greatest legends. And he’s only 26.
That’s according to former F1 driver Mark Blundell, who says Verstappen’s incredible 2023 season puts him in the same conversation as seven-time champions Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
The young Dutch driver clinched his fourth straight world championship in Las Vegas, but it wasn’t as easy as it looked.
His Red Bull car, the RB20, started the season strong but actually got worse as the year went on. Ferrari and McLaren caught up and often had faster cars.
“It’s remarkable that he’s got the maturity to do what he’s done with four titles under his belt,” Blundell told CasinoApps. “He certainly is up there with the greats now. There’s no denying that.”
What makes this season special? Verstappen had to fight for it.
“This has been probably his best season because he’s had to dig deep,” Blundell explained. “He’s had to contend with not having the best car on so many occasions.”
The drama wasn’t just on the track. Verstappen dealt with team politics and didn’t have much help from his teammates, who couldn’t keep up with his pace.
Most champions have strong teammates to help them out – blocking rivals or sharing strategy info. Verstappen did it mostly alone.
“Max has been nothing short of superb,” Blundell said. “He’s had to pull some outstanding performances out of the bag.”
At just 26, Verstappen’s already got four championships. With potentially another decade ahead of him in F1, there’s no telling how many records he might break.
