Max Verstappen isn’t in the mood to rehash his fourth world title celebration, making it crystal clear during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix press conference.
The Red Bull Racing star shut down questions about comparing his latest championship to his previous three victories. He’s done talking about it.
“We already had this chat in Vegas,” Verstappen said bluntly. “I still have the same opinion.”
The Dutch driver’s frustration was obvious as he recalled the special press conference after the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where he’d already covered this ground extensively.
“I sat there. I was waiting. I wanted to go out. I wanted to have a beer, have a drink, and now I’m answering the same question again,” he said, clearly annoyed at the repetition.
When interviewer Tom Clarkson pointed out that Verstappen had actually enjoyed a beer during that Vegas press conference, the champion fired back with a grin: “I wanted more. I ran out. I had to sit there. I couldn’t reach for it.”
The tension between Verstappen and George Russell was actually the bigger story in Abu Dhabi, but reporters kept circling back to the championship discussion.
For anyone who missed his thoughts in Vegas? Verstappen had a simple solution: “They can watch it back.”
It’s a typical no-nonsense response from a driver who’s always been more interested in racing than talking about his achievements.
