Max Norris Clinches F1 Championship: Zak Brown Prepares for Bet Payoff

Lando Norris just claimed his first Formula 1 world title in Abu Dhabi, and now it’s time for McLaren CEO Zak Brown to pay up on their secret bet.

The British driver sealed the championship with a crucial third-place finish last Sunday, edging out Max Verstappen by just two points in one of the closest title fights in recent years.

But there’s more to celebrate than just the trophy.

Earlier this season in Miami, Norris revealed he had a special wager with his boss. “Me and Zak actually have a bet for when I win a drivers’ championship. And it’s not a cheap something,” Norris told NBC News. “So I’m doing my best to make sure that comes true.”

The newly-crowned champion seems confident Brown can’t wriggle out of their agreement.

“It’s something we have video proof of, from several great guys. So it’s a bet that cannot be broken, that’s for sure,” he explained. “I’m really going to do my best to make sure that he has to honour it.”

So what exactly did Brown promise?

During a Heart Radio interview, Norris gave a tantalizing hint: “I can’t say it! It’s my dream car since I was a kid but it’s not a McLaren.”

With the championship now secured, the countdown begins to see when Brown delivers on his promise. Fans are already speculating about what exotic vehicle might soon join Norris’s garage.

The achievement caps off an incredible season for the 24-year-old, who has been with McLaren since entering Formula 1 in 2019.
